Villa Platanus pays homage to the Centenary Plane Tree of Alijó, also known as the “Big Tree”, 170 years old. Alijó is a Portuguese village nestled in the heart of the Douro Valley — one of Portugal’s most iconic wine regions and part of the Alto Douro Wine Region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the very roots of this family.
In a refuge, between vineyards that have witnessed centuries of Douro history, stands the majestic Centenary Plane Tree which graces the town of Alijó. Its branches stretch out in a cosy embrace over the town. A silent guardian of the secrets of this ancient village. Villa Platanus is a celebration of time, tradition and gift of our terroir. This wine evokes the richness of our soils and the dedication we have to our land. A harmony between the man and the land.
